This movie felt boring for most part. But at the end, the absolutely beautiful moment, when Tony and Maira are dancing, director shows the beauty of a fathers mind. Tony is in material world, dancing with his daughter Maria. Maria in material world is dancing with Tony, her father. And suddenly the dance changes. It marks transition to astral world. In the middle part of the movie, Maria at one point in the Movie asks Tony to start dancing, but close the eyes and feel the oneness and take control and dance as if he is dancing with himself. That was a technique emphasizing domain of material world. While, here at the end of the movie, Tony, the Father, in natural oneness of his daugher while holding her as an adult, transits to the astral world. This is master stroke of director. In this world, he finds his own little daughter, and gaps falls, he doesnt need to close the eyes this times, with wide open eyes, he is able to see his little daughter, and performs dance with her little daughter, and in turn falls back in to further subtle world, and is holding and dancing with her 5 year old daughter. In regular case, a father dances with little daughter and imagines the glory grandeur and majesty of his daughter in the future., that is with some expectation of beautiful growth. That is matrial aspect. However Rumba Therapy reverses, and thats not regular. Tony sees Maria his daughter in her fully flourished avatar, and fallls back to astral world, in his own powerful perception out of longing to enjoy Maria’s childhood and upbringing, his unfulfilled desire, fullfills now, he doesnt see Maria an adult anymore, he sees and dancein in total oneness with his 8 year old kid, and then he dances with his 3 year old kid. This was so much authentic part of the movie, it almost brought jolt of emotion. Tony’s acting is beautiful, real, justified. And directors way of ending the movie, is commendable. Director and actor very effectively shows the Mind of Tony, Mind of an authentic father. Somewhere during the dance, after affirmation that Maria gives him, Tony performs she is his (daughter), and two facets of life meets here Material and Astral, a combination that touches and wins heart. I dont think I will watch the movie ever again, but at the same time the ending of Maria and Tony is unforgettable, perfection in acting, and perfection in direction, to show the subtlety of a complex phenomenon. The movie superficially seems to address that A father reunites with daughter. But in fact, the movie addresses the unfulfilled desire of raising and growing up his daugher, playing dacing and singing holding her along the way, seeing her growing beautifully. All those unfulfilled desires, fullfills in alternate realm that Tony only experiences on the floor dancing with Maria. That is the point that film is making, a primeval urge to take part into rasing of a daughter, its unfulfilled states of existence, and its fulfilled states of existence, and final fulfilment.
